Free meditation cassettes
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
We are pleased to announce that we have made some of Bodhipaksa’s guided meditations available on audiocassette. These cassettes are free to inmates, and can also be supplied to prison volunteers for distribution in prisons.
About the cassettes
The cassettes are specially designed for use in prisons. Most if not all prisons ban CD’s. Additionally, each prison may have its own rules governing audiocassettes. Our own cassettes are made in transparent cases (important because prison authorities are worried that cassettes may be used to hide contraband) and are made without screws. Each cassette is printed with a message saying that it is licensed for use in prisons.
The cassettes contain two guided meditations, including a 30 minute Mindfulness of Breathing (anapanasati), and a 30 minute Development of Lovingkindness (metta bhavana). These are ideal practices for any practitioner, but are especially valuable practices for inmates.
How to obtain an audiocassette
We will ship an audiocassette free of charge, including shipping charges, to any inmate who requests one. Inmates may request a cassette by writing to us at:
Wildmind
PO Box 212
Newmarket NH 03857
USA
Inmates must include their full name, address, and inmate number.
Friends and relatives of inmates
Friends or relatives may purchase a cassette on behalf of an inmate, but we can only ship directly to the prisoner at his or her place of incarceration. You can purchase a cassette to be shipped to an inmate by from our online meditation supplies store. Remember to include the inmate’s name, number, and the full postal address of the institution in the "ship to" fields.
We can only ship one cassette to each inmate. We are happy to supply cassettes to groups, but we need to be supplied with a name and inmate number for each member of the group.
For volunteers
If you are a prison volunteer and wish to obtain copies for distribution in prison, please email us at the address above, giving us details of the group you attend.
Making a donation
Random donations for our prison work are of course welcomed, and any funds donated will be held in a special fund that will go towards the publication of our forthcoming book, "Buddhism Behind Bars."
