What do we mean when we say…

Sometimes it isn’t obvious what we mean when we use various terms in youga, so here is a quick guide to some of the terms that often cause confusion.

ACTIVE OR STRAIGHT LEGS AND KNEES?

Your kneecaps are pulled up and pushed back, and your legs are stretched so that they really are 100% straight.

Active knees
Active knees

Inactive knees
Inactive knees

PARALLEL FEET?

The outer edges of the feet are parallel, so that your big toes point slightly inwards and the distance between them is slightly shorter than between the heels.

Parallel feet
Parallel feet

SHOULDER WIDTH?

Your arms are really parallel, like railway tracks.

Do you mean practicing yoga can change inactive knees to active ones? so the bones would be straight and healthy?
