The 6 Elements CD

CD7-500pxNew release!

The Buddha taught the Six Element Practice as a way of challenging our assumptions of our own separateness and permanence. In this practice we reflect on the various “elements” that compose our being (solid matter, liquid, energy, gas, space, and consciousness itself) and see how each is a flow, rather than something static. Through this practice we come to see that every aspect of our being is in a permanent state of flux, and that we are nothing more or less than the universe become conscious of itself.

The practices on this CD will help you to:

  • let go of limited views of yourself
  • feel a greater sense of awe and wonder

Athletes using meditation to improve performance

wildmind meditation newsIlene Raymond Rush, The Inquirer: For 15 minutes a day, Tim Frazier, Penn State’s senior point guard, finds a quiet place, switches on a podcast, and meditates. Along with his teammates, Frazier, the team’s all-time leader in assists, has found that practicing mindfulness meditation – focusing on the breath with his eyes closed and becoming aware of his thoughts without judging them – has amped up his performance on the court.

“The game moves so fast, it’s hard to focus on the here and now,” said Frazier, who is pretty fleet of foot himself. “Meditation slows me down [mentally], keeps me more relaxed and more …

How to stop beating yourself up

Screen Shot 2013-12-10 at Dec 10, 11.37.36 AMThere is still time to join us for a retreat this weekend in Florida, just south of Tampa, Feb 21–23. It’s on the theme of self-compassion and it’s called “How to Stop Beating Yourself Up.”

Self-compassion is at the heart of my teaching these days.

The retreat fees include food and accommodation, and they’re on a sliding scale.

Most us us have the habit of being unkind to ourselves. We talk unkindly to ourselves and often we sacrifice our own well-being in order to “get things done.”

100 Days of Lovingkindness begins Jan 31

man and woman diving of boatThe second event of our Year of Going Deeper series — 100 Days of Lovingkindness — begins on January 31, 2014.

This is not a meditation challenge requiring you do lovingkindness practice every day. It’s simply an opportunity, over the course of a 100 day period, to bring more lovingkindness into your life.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Appreciate that kindness is something that’s inherent in your being, and that it just needs to be nurtured
  • Be kinder to yourself
  • Be less irritated and more patient with others
  • Develop acceptance instead of making judgments
  • Develop genuine compassion
  • Avoid “idiot compassion” (where we deny our own needs in the service of others)
  • Become more appreciative and see the

Free Bodhi!

Buddha Meditation mit WasserspiegelungOur Indiegogo campaign, Free Bodhi, is going well. We’ve raised over $13,000 of our $22,000 target, with six days to go.

Why are we raising funds?

Wildmind is raising seed-funding for a business manager post so that Bodhipaksa (a.k.a. Bodhi, a.k.a. Mr. B.) can be freed up from admin and spend more time teaching and writing.

One of the first fruits of the Free Bodhi project is Wildmind’s Year of Going Deeper which is a year-long program of free meditation events, spanning the whole of 2014.

What’s in it for you?

  • On the most basic level, we’re giving away great perks to our donors. For example a donation of $15
