A lovingkindness meditation in response to the 9/11 disasters at the WTC, Washington, and Pennsylvania

This page was set up immediately after 11th September as our response to the terrorist atrocities, and in order to help the many people who were unable to process the terrible images that they were exposing themselves to in the media day after day.

The recent shocking events have prompted me to record a guided session of the Development of Lovingkindness (Metta Bhavana) meditation in order to help promote love, compassion, wisdom, and peace in the world. I’d like to thank Gordon Craig, a Wildmind visitor, for suggesting this idea to me.

This meditation is aimed at helping us to heal our own fear, hurt, and anger and to help create some peace and reflectiveness so that we can all find the wisest and most compassionate response to the situation in which we each find ourselves.

The meditation is recorded in RealAudio format and Windows Media format.

The free RealPlayer program can be downloade from the RealNetworks web site (look for the Free RealOne Player link — the company tries to divert you into purchasing their paid media player by making the links hard to find).

The Windows media player is pre-installed on every PC running Windows.

If you find this meditation to be useful I’d be very pleased if you would recommend it to friends and colleagues.

With metta (lovingkindness),
Dharmachari Bodhipaksa
