Teacher Biography: Sunada

sunadaSunada is an accomplished teacher who has been meditating and practicing Buddhism since 1995. She was ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order (former known as the Western Buddhist Order) in 2004.

In addition to her work with Wildmind, she leads activities at the Boston Triratna Buddhist Community in Massachusetts, as well at the Aryaloka Buddhist Center in Newmarket, New Hampshire.

Sunada is a Certified Life Coach, helping people to find the inspiration and confidence to make a difference in the world. She works with individual clients through her own coaching practice at Mindful Purpose Life Coaching. She has also participated in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) professional training program as developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli at the UMass Medical School. She brings all these perspectives into her work here at Wildmind.

Having established her own practice while working full-time in high tech and then in arts administration, Sunada understands the challenges of balancing a meditation practice with a busy life. She has been teaching at Wildmind since January 2006 and has received consistent praise for her practical, down-to-earth approach as well as her care for and commitment to each student.

Sunada teaches the following:

The Path of Mindfulness and Love (4 weeks)
 Change Your Mind (4 weeks)
 Awakening the Heart (4 weeks)
Entering the Path of Insight (4 weeks)
 Private meditation and life coaching

Student quotes about Sunada:

Wes“Interaction with Sunada has always been the vital center of the three courses I have taken. The readings and the guided meditations are excellent, but no one’s experience with meditation is quite like anyone else’s; the individualized attention makes the difference between just learning about something new and really developing one’s practice. And Sunada has always been the perfect facilitator of such development: ever friendly, open, committed, and thoughtful. She always seems to have the right question to ask, the right suggestion to make, or the right perspective to offer.”

Liz“I wanted you to know how helpful your guidance has been. It is clear that you read everything carefully and responded thoughtfully to my journal entries. Your kindness has also been abundantly in evidence. The entire course was good, including the guided meditations and written materials. But the opportunity to interact with such a good teacher on a one-on-one basis has really elevated the experience way beyond what I could’ve gotten from a book or CD. I am very appreciative.”
- Liz, New Jersey, USA
