Just Being, Just Sitting (July 1–28)

June 25, 2015

yogd2015-jjustsittingJust Sitting is a form of meditation in which we simply allow the mind to settle itself. It is a practice of non-doing. As we sit, we allow thoughts to pass through the mind unobstructedly — and without getting caught up in their storylines. In time the mind stills, and a state of pure, effortless awareness emerges.

In this 28 day event you’ll learn to:

  • Sit without judgement
  • Allow thoughts and feelings to arise and pass without obstruction
  • Rest in an open and expansive state of awareness
  • Enter an effortless state of meditation
  • Recognize that it is not “you” who meditates, and allow your meditation to unfold spontaneously, from within

In this 28 day event we’ll explore the quality of upekkha, or loving wisdom.

This event is by donation and is suitable for people who are familiar with lovingkindness or compassion meditation.

Therefore, the practice of upekkha involves cultivating insight as we develop metta (kindness), karuna (compassion), and mudita (joyful appreciation). Not only do we cultivate insight ourselves, but we wish that all beings find the deep peace of … Read more »

Living With Appreciation and Gratitude (May 1–28)

April 9, 2015

yogd2015-muditaIn this 28 day event we’ll be exploring the quality of mudita, or joyful appreciation.

Mudita recognizes and appreciates the positive qualities and actions that bring happiness to beings (ourselves included).

It begins with a desire that beings be happy, but recognizes that happiness arises from a life well-lived, rather than randomly.

During this event you’ll learn how to:

  • Develop peace through an appreciation of impermanence
  • Overcome a tendency to blame yourself or others
  • See all beings as potentially awakened
  • Abandon indifference and cruelty in favor of genuine loving wisdom
  • Encourage the arising of insight in others

Signing up for this event gives you access to:

  • 28 daily emails with practice suggestions
  • Access to guided
