Spiritual liberals vs. religious conservatives: how meditation influences political attitudes

Staff Reporter, Medical Daily: According to researchers at the University of Toronto, practicing meditation makes people become more politically liberal.

In the political landscape of the Unites States, it’s obvious that religious beliefs strongly influence people’s political beliefs. Christian conservatives are a key demographic of the Republican party, while Democrats are generally less faith-driven and more likely not to express any religious affiliation. In a study published in Social Psychological & Personality Science, a team from UT’s Department of Psychology consisting of examined participants’ political views in relation to their religiousness and spirituality.
