I’m curious what you think about this conversation, on the topic of non-self. It’s a podcast-style explanation of an article I wrote years ago, called Understanding Non-Self: The boys in the basement, the empty room, and the plagiarist.
I was fairly pleased with the conversation. I think the two people did a good job of drawing out some of the main points. And they said some nice things about me. Here’s the recording.
What did you think?
The interesting thing is that these are not real people. The conversation was generated entirely by a Google AI. All I did was feed it a PDF of my article, and it created the script and voiced it.
In case you’re wondering, the complimentary things the AI says about me are not from me. I suspect it’s also gathering information from the web.
I know some people like listening to things rather than reading. I suspect some of those folks would be inclined to read an article after having heard about it. So I’m wondering if perhaps I might create some more of these dialogs, and use them as a way to draw more readers into this blog.
I have very mixed feelings about AI. Some uses are just horrendous, and unfortunately it’s putting people outAri of work. Sometimes it gives inaccurate and even dangerous advice. AI companies shamelessly steal content. This seems one of the more benign uses, although I do wonder about the carbon footprint.
Anyway, once again, here’s a link to the article that’s being discussed.
