Wildmind’s mission is to benefit the world by promoting mindfulness and compassion through the practice of Buddhist meditation.
Wildmind is run by Bodhipaksa, a Buddhist teacher and author who has been practicing within the Triratna Buddhist Community since 1982 and has been a member of the Triratna Buddhist Order since 1993. Bodhipaksa previously taught meditation in the Religious Studies department at the University of Montana.
Wildmind’s activities include:
- Providing free meditation instruction on the internet in a variety of languages
- Publishing news stories, articles on meditation, and reviews in our blog
- Responding to questions about meditation through the comments on our articles
- Publishing guided meditation CDs and MP3s
- Conducting online classes in meditation and other forms of Buddhist practice
- Building a spiritual community in Wildmind’s Google+ Community
Wildmind began life in 2000 as a project that Bodhipaksa undertook while studying for a Masters’ degree at the University of Montana, having realized that at that time there was a dearth of reliable information about meditation on the web.
The website was launched on 11 November, 2000, and in the spring of the following year Bodhipaksa began offering his first online meditation course. Since then Wildmind has continued to expand, and now offers a number of online courses and free instruction in a variety of languages.
There are various ways to keep up with our activities:
- You can have our posts delivered to your email in-box once a day by subscribing through Feedblitz.
- You can follow us on Google+.
- You can follow us on Facebook, although Facebook will probably hide most of our posts from you. Be sure to click on the “Liked” button on our Facebook Page and then select “Receive notifications.” You can also add the page to an interest list. Lastly, Facebook hides our posts if you don’t show an interest in them by occasionally clicking “like” or leaving a comment.
- All our posts are published on Twitter.
- You can subscribe to our email newsletter, which goes out roughly twice a month, and which contains links to the most significant articles of the previous two weeks or so.
- We’re on Pinterest as well, although not all our articles get published there.
- You can follow our RSS feed if you use a feed reader.
- You can even subscribe to our blog on your Kindle.
Wildmind is ad-free, and support, in the form of one-time donations or (even better) recurring contributions is vital to our success, and helps us to bring the benefits of meditation to more people. Please feel free to contribute to our work.

Thanks so much for buying my book, Vincent. Unfortunately I'm not actually sure which meditation practice you mean. Over the years I've recorded hundreds — my app, Bodhi Mind, has almost 800 at present. If you can remember anything at all specific about the meditation, that might help jog my memory.

Do you have a guided
Abdominal/ belly breathing
Cd by you.
I don't have a CD specifically on that topic. You might find this YouTube video helpful, though.
Hello Wildmind,
Just a practical thing here. I started with the “Waking Up” course. For 2 days in a row now I pressed the “Next email” button at the end of the beautiful instructions every day, but now new email appeared in my Inbox. Can this issue be resolved?
I am not sure whether this is the right place to leave this kind of comment, but I do not see a point of contact, email, etc. on your website for someone to approach with these issues. Thanks for your support.
Hi, Lex.
To ask about this kind of thing you can reply to any course email. You can also ask in the online community. I'm out and about right now but I'll look into this issue and get back to you as soon as I can. Comments posted here do reach me, but I don't check for new comments very often so it's not the best way to contact me.
All the best,
Bodhipaksa
Do you have a belly breathing meditation cd
My CD, "Guided Meditations for Inner Peace," has a meditation with an emphasis on full body breathing. It's an approach to meditation I've created that radically quiets the mind. I think you'd find it helpful.
I want to know the benefits and demerits of Buddhism in daily life !
Hi Bodhi,
First of all thank you again for the audio book guided meditations for busy people. Its helped me over the years with bouts of insomnia, particularly grounding the mind.
However I've no idea why this is but the audiobook has become messed up inside of audible. The chapters used to sync correctly with the start of each meditation but now they do not.
As someone who purchased this product with my audible account years ago which I have since cancelled and restarted several times, the audiobook is in my downloads but not in my purchase history.
Is it possible to get this audiobook from you in a different format to replace the broken one I have? I would sign up for your new app but I use android.
Best wishes,
Andrew
Hi, Andrew.
I'm glad to hear that you've found the Busy People meditations helpful, and I'm sorry to hear that the Audible version of it got messed up.
That album is available as a download here.
All the best!

Hello Dear Bodhi,
Glad I still receive emails from Wildmild and people around the world benefitting from the Buddha teachings from one corner of the world, the Wildmind with you at helm of it.
Briefly, I am from Myanmar and fortunate enough to have access to most of the teachings partly in person back there and online here with passion and a good mind practice-exploring the unique realm of mindfulness , observation of the reality without the observer, so to put it. Given that, I do know how important and wise you are doing what you cherish doing.
For the ultimate goal of cessation of life, absolute liberation from sufferings, it sounds like quite a tall order for most of us the common but it is not the impossible.
At least we could all make our life felt less stressful and stepping up the ladder, all the way to total freedom from sufferings we the common are with ignorance cycled in and on.
Busy as a bee myself, still please be my guest to stop by for a Weekend breakfast or lunch to personally pay due respect to you, should you happen to be in New York. Thank you so much again.
Thank you for the kind offer!
Hello Bodhi !
I was a student of yours in ~1999, meditation class, at beautiful UM Missoula. I learned SO MUCH from you, which I then took forward into the future, and frequently impart to my clients. So happy that you are still in this universe.
Hi, Aspyn!
It's lovely to hear from an old student, and to learn that you benefited from those classes. I miss Missoula and I'm hoping I can get back there for a visit sometime.
I don't know if you've heard, but Prof. Sponberg (Saramati) passed away last year after a long bout of lung illness. I was pretty gutted about that.
Anyway, I hope you're thriving, and I'm glad you're doing work that helps people. Wonderful!
All the best,
Bodhi
I'm a low vision person, blind in one eye. Is there any way to see all the texts on your websites in one color text? I've tried fiddling with the color balance settings as well as I know how. I still can't read those in yellow or blue - or other colors when I change settings. Access to a single color text woud be a big help. Thank you.
Hi, Martha.
I'm sorry to hear that my website is hard to use. This bothers me, and I'll look into solutions, although I can't promise anything will happen quickly. I do pretty much everything myself and can't afford to hire a designer at present. It'll happen, though!
All the best,
Bodhipaksa
I see the quote at the beginning of your post citing Thich Nhat Hanh. I was wondering what source that quote came from. I would like to use it in a writing I am doing but I need the original source. Could you share that with me?
Hi, Gennie. I have many thousands of posts on this website. You'd have to tell me which one the quote is in.
Hello Bodhiphaksa, I’m a beginner meditator (about 6 months) and based In Melbourne Australia. IM enjoying the practices on the Bodhi Mind app but also keen to participate in the daily zoom meditation as a way of embedding my practice. Would you mind please advising the time of day and time zone of that practice? I have trawled FAQs but couldn’t find that info.
Also, would you say Wildmind is the more comprehensive subscription (over BodhiMind)?
Many thanks 🙏🏼
Hi, Melinda.
I'm afraid the daily Zoom meditations aren't at a good time for people in Australia. They're at 11 AM US Eastern Time, which is currently 2 AM your time.
That aside, though, Wildmind's Meditation Initiative offers far more than Bodhi Mind. In fact I'm in the process of (slowly) adding all the audio from Bodhi Mind to the community website. That's a long-term project, but there's already a lot there. Plus there are the courses and other benefits.
All the best,
Bodhipakṣa
